Privacy policy
Effective October 8, 2026
The short version: we collect only what we need to make and deliver your order. Card payments are handled by Stripe, so we never see or store your full card number. We do not sell your information, and we do not use advertising or tracking cookies.
Who we are
HomeStyle Foods ("HomeStyle Foods", "we", "us") makes and sells fresh dosa batter and seasonal panjiri from Brampton, ON, Canada. This policy explains how we handle personal information under Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).
What we collect
- When you order: your name, email address, phone number, delivery address (for delivery), what you ordered, and any delivery or pickup notes. You enter these on Stripe's secure checkout page.
- Payment details: entered on Stripe's checkout page and processed by Stripe. We receive confirmation of payment and limited details such as the card brand and last four digits, never the full card number.
- When you contact us: your messages and contact details when you call, email or WhatsApp us. Our wholesale and gifting forms open WhatsApp with the details you typed; the website itself does not store what you enter.
- Batter Club: your subscription and billing details, managed by Stripe.
- On this website: our hosting provider, Vercel, processes technical information such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you request, so it can deliver and protect the site. Your cart is saved in your own browser's local storage so it is still there when you come back; it is not sent to us until you check out.
How we use it
- To make, deliver or hand over your order, and to contact you about it.
- To answer your questions and look after your account or subscription.
- To keep business, accounting and tax records.
- To prevent fraud and keep our website and payments secure.
- To send you reminders or offers, only if you ask us to (for example, by joining our Saturday reminders on WhatsApp). You can stop them anytime by replying STOP.
Your consent
By placing an order or contacting us, you consent to us using your information as described here. You can withdraw consent to optional uses, such as reminders, at any time. If you withdraw consent to information we need to fulfil an order, such as a delivery address, we may not be able to complete that order.
Who we share it with
We share personal information only with service providers who help us run the business, and only what they need:
- Stripe, to process payments and subscriptions.
- Vercel, to host this website.
- WhatsApp (Meta), when you choose to message us there.
- Anyone delivering for us, who receives your name, address, phone number and delivery notes.
We may also disclose information if the law requires it. We do not sell or rent personal information.
Where it is stored
Some of our service providers store and process information outside Canada, including in the United States. While it is there, it is subject to the laws of that country and may be accessed by its courts or authorities.
How long we keep it
We keep order and payment records for as long as Canadian tax rules require, generally six years. We keep messages only as long as we need them to serve you, then delete them.
How we protect it
We limit access to people who need it, use services with strong security, and never store full card numbers. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information and will let you know if a breach puts you at real risk of significant harm, as the law requires.
Your rights
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or withdraw your consent. Email hello@homestylefoods.ca and we will respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
Children
Our website and products are intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as our business changes. The effective date at the top shows when it last changed.
